Color & Shape Match

A playful game that helps young kids learn colours and shapes — tap the right one, and it quietly adapts and reports how they’re learning.

Role: Game design, development. Stack: JavaScript, HTML5 Canvas, Tailwind CSS.

The challenge

Little kids learn colours and shapes best through play, but simple flashcard games are either too easy or too hard — and parents can’t see what their child is actually struggling with.

The solution

Each round asks for one target, like “Tap the Cyan Circle!”, among randomly placed shapes in 8 colours and 4 shapes. Every correct tap raises the number of distractors, so difficulty grows with the child. Every tap is logged, and when the game ends it produces a learning report: reaction-time average, consistency and trend, whether mistakes came from colour or shape confusion, the most-confused pairs and the highest load reached.

Outcome

  • 8 colours and 4 shapes with clear, big touch targets
  • Adaptive difficulty: more distractors as the child improves
  • End-of-game learning report for parents and teachers
  • Three-strike lives, scoring and a saved high score
  • Runs in any browser on phone, tablet or desktop
